Luggage on Fuerteventura's buses: what TIADHE says

Suitcases and bags on TIADHE's buses in Fuerteventura: the operator publishes no luggage rule, so here is what it does say and whom to ask.

Your bus, at a glance

Lines 3, 10 and 16 leave from the airport terminal for Puerto del Rosario, Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma, Morro Jable and Gran Tarajal, and TIADHE publishes no luggage rule for any of them on any page this site has read, dated and saved: not on its payment page, not on its line pages or timetable sheets, not on its contact page. No size limit, no weight limit, no charge, no list of which buses have a hold. This site will not invent one. What TIADHE does publish is how to pay and how to request a ramp-equipped departure; for anything about a large case, a surfboard or a bike, ask the operator before you travel and expect the driver's judgement on the day.

The practical part

The essentials

  1. Expect no published rule, and plan for the driver's call

TIADHE's pages say nothing about luggage: no size, no weight, no hold, no charge. Ask the operator through its contact page before relying on a large case, keep whatever you carry out of the aisle, and let a full bus go rather than argue a bag onto it; with the thinner Sunday tables, know the next departure before you let one pass.

  2. Have the fare ready before you lift the bag

Tickets are sold on board for cash, and TIADHE asks you to keep the proof of payment for the whole journey; a banknote may not exceed five times the fare, and notes above fifty are not taken. Sort the cash before the bus arrives so you are not juggling a wallet, a case and a child at the door.

  3. Ask TIADHE, not a forum

For a bike, a surfboard, a golf bag, a pet or an oversized case, the only honest answer is the operator's: its contact page lists the information office and the ways to reach it. Ask about the departure you plan to take, there and back, because an answer about a line is not an answer about a vehicle.

  4. Wheelchairs and pushchairs: the reduced-mobility sheet

TIADHE publishes a reduced-mobility service with ramp-equipped buses on marked departures of lines 1, 3, 6, 8 and 10, not 16, with a column for Sundays and holidays; other departures can be requested by phone at least 24 hours ahead for a Monday-to-Thursday trip, or 48 hours ahead for a Friday, weekend or holiday one. The sheet says nothing about pushchairs or luggage, so the same rule applies: ask about your departure.

What this page cannot tell you

Whether a given bus has a hold, how many cases fit, whether a bike or board is taken, whether anything is charged, and what happens when the bus is full. Every one of those depends on the vehicle and the driver on the day, and none is written down by TIADHE. A sentence here that answered them would be a guess dressed as a fact.

At the airport, with bags

Lines 3, 10 and 16 leave from the terminal's Floor 0, Salidas; line 3 is the frequent one towards Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste, lines 10 and 16 run far fewer trips. Count baggage reclaim before the bus you aim for, not from touchdown, and read the dated airport board for the departure after the first one that fits. Aena's barrier-free assistance is requested at least 48 hours before the flight and ends at a meeting point; it does not put your bags on the bus.

Ferries have their own conditions

The crossings this site describes (Corralejo to Playa Blanca, Morro Jable to Gran Canaria, Corralejo to Lobos) are separate tickets with the ferry companies, whose own pages carry their luggage conditions. A bus ticket includes none of them, and a bus arrival at the harbour is not a check-in.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask

Can I take a bike or a surfboard on a TIADHE bus?

This site does not know, and neither does any page TIADHE publishes that it has read. Ask the operator through its contact page about the exact departures you plan, there and back, and treat the driver's decision on the day as final.

Is there a luggage charge on Fuerteventura's buses?

TIADHE's payment page prints a fare for the passenger and no charge for a bag; that is as far as the published facts go. If a driver asks for anything beyond the ticket, ask for the proof of payment the operator says you are entitled to.

The other half of the plan

And the way back.

For the way back, the same unknowns apply and the Sunday tables are thinner: be at the stop early with the case ready and the cash sorted, and know the departure after the one you want in case a full bus leaves you behind.
