Costa Calma
Two kilometres of wind-sheltered white sand
Costa Calma earns its name: two kilometres of white sand and turquoise water, sheltered from the wind by the hotels behind it, with eroded ochre mountains along the coast. Line 10 comes from the airport, line 5 runs to Morro Jable and line 1 up the island; Sotavento's famous lagoon is next door, but the bus does not reach it.

Getting to Costa Calma
For a local southern journey, use TIADHE line 5 to Morro Jable. From the airport, TIADHE’s line 10 map includes Parada Preferente Costa Calma. From Puerto del Rosario, line 1’s maps include Costa Calma’s petrol-station stop (TIADHE’s line 1 and line 5 maps name it “Gasolinera-T-CC”). From any other origin, change at Puerto del Rosario.

Before you settle in
Keep the way home in mind.
If visiting Morro Jable, select the Costa Calma-bound line 5 return before leaving. Some trips marked Monday to Friday run only between Morro Jable and Esquinzo, so check that yours goes to Costa Calma. From any other origin, build the complete return from the boards on this page.

Sotavento's lagoon without a bus
The Hotel Gorriones stop on lines 1 and 5 is suspended, so this site does not advertise it. From Costa Calma the lagoon is a taxi, a hotel shuttle or a long walk along the coast; a kite or windsurf school's own transfer is the other honest route.
A little introduction
Get to know Costa Calma.
Costa Calma is a place to slow the itinerary down. Its long pale beach anchors the resort, while the wider south-east coast is known for wind and water sports. Morro Jable provides a contrasting southern outing via the verified line 5 corridor. Treat Costa Calma as a base rather than a transport hub: arrivals from elsewhere should be confirmed directly with TIADHE.
Why go
-
A beach made for walking
Two kilometres of white sand to walk end to end, with the coast's ochre mountains, worn smooth by erosion, as the view.
-
Wind protection
On an island known for its wind, the hotels and apartments behind the beach act as a windbreak.
-
Morro Jable on line 5
Every line 5 trip enters the Esquinzo development on its way to Morro Jable; the weekday-keyed trips run only between Esquinzo and Morro Jable.

What to do in Costa Calma
- Beach Don’t miss
Costa Calma beach
The resort’s white-sand beach is long enough to support an unhurried day of walking, resting and choosing a suitable place by current conditions. Check flags and local safety information before entering the water; the destination’s calm name is not a live assessment of the sea.
- Activity Don’t miss
A wind-and-water-sport coast
The south-east coast’s open conditions attract wind-powered and water-based activities. Book instruction or equipment through a qualified operator and use its named check-in point. Neither a general destination map nor the public bus guide can identify the day’s operating beach or conditions.
- Sight Don’t miss
A launch point for Morro Jable
Line 5 makes Morro Jable the clearest public-bus day trip supported by the current site. The towns offer different moods: a low-key beach base in Costa Calma and a larger beach, promenade and harbour centre in Morro Jable.
- Beach
Mal Nombre and Esquinzo on the coast road
Line 5 and line 1 stop at Tierra Dorada for Mal Nombre's cliff-sheltered beach and at Esquinzo for Butihondo's three kilometres.

- Activity
Sotavento: without the bus
Nine kilometres and five beaches, with a three-kilometre lagoon behind a sand bar where beginners learn to windsurf. Its Hotel Gorriones stop is suspended, so it is a taxi, a shuttle or a long walk.
- Beach
Low tide: the coves turn into lagoons
When the sea is out, the coves between Costa Calma and Esquinzo look wider than they are long, and shallow lagoons form in them. At Sotavento a sand bar 100 to 300 metres offshore holds a three-kilometre lagoon where beginners learn to windsurf.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about Costa Calma
Is there a bus from Fuerteventura Airport to Costa Calma?
Yes, line 10 from the terminal to Parada Preferente Costa Calma; the timetable on the airport guide shows its dated departures, which are far fewer than line 3's.
How do I get from Costa Calma to Sotavento beach?
No usable bus: the Hotel Gorriones stop is suspended. Taxi, hotel shuttle or a long walk; the lagoon is a windsurfing and kitesurfing place rather than a swimming beach for most.

-
Use a precise accommodation area
Costa Calma stretches along the coast. Compare the operator’s current stop material with your actual accommodation or activity meeting point before travel, then allow for the final walk without assuming a resort-wide central stop.
-
Esquinzo and the weekday trips
TIADHE’s line 5 timetable says every service enters the Esquinzo development. The trips marked Monday to Friday only run just between Esquinzo and Morro Jable.
-
Ramp-equipped buses
TIADHE’s reduced-mobility timetable lists ramp-equipped departures for lines 1 and 10; line 5 is not listed. Line 10’s route map includes Costa Calma, and line 1’s maps include Costa Calma’s petrol-station stop (TIADHE’s line 1 and line 5 maps name it “Gasolinera-T-CC”). Other departures can be requested by phone, at least 24 hours ahead for a Monday-to-Thursday trip or 48 hours ahead for a Friday, weekend or holiday trip.
