La Ampuyenta
The village doctor who never charged
Doctor Mena was born here into a humble family, studied abroad and came home to treat the island's people free of charge; his house, the hospital he promoted and a friar's tiny home make a short village walk. Line 1 stops at La ampuyenta on the way out and at Doctor Mena on the way back.

Getting to La Ampuyenta
TIADHE line 1 between Puerto del Rosario and Morro Jable stops in La Ampuyenta in both directions: its route maps have the stop La ampuyenta on the way out from Puerto del Rosario and the stop Doctor Mena on the way back. Line 2 also stops in La Ampuyenta, at one stop in each direction, at the Almácigo roundabout: its route maps list Rotonda Almacig (towards Betancuria) and ROT. ALMACIGO V (towards Puerto del Rosario) under the locality “L. AMPUYENTA”. A TIADHE notice for 3 October 2026 (now past) said two line 2 departures would not make “las paradas de Almácigo y La Ampuyenta”, so a notice like that can return: keep line 1 as the fallback here.
