La Lajita
A quiet black-sand bay, fair-priced fish
La Lajita's beach is 915 metres of black sand strewn with shiny blue stones, clean and calm because few bathers come, and the fishing village behind it serves fresh fish at fair prices. Line 1 stops in the village and line 10 at the zoo.

Oasis Wildlife: what the ticket covers
Oasis Wildlife, the zoo and botanical garden on the main road at La Lajita, opens every day; its schedule page gives the hours and warns that the times of its Lives (the animal presentations) and Experiences can change, so read it on the morning you go. Its FAQ says the entrance ticket covers the zoo, the botanical garden and all the educational exhibitions, but not the interaction experiences, which cost extra. Tickets bought online must be bought at least the day before the visit and stay valid for a year; children pay from the age of four.

Oasis Wildlife with children and wheelchairs
Oasis lists accessible, wheelchair-adapted toilets, baby-changing in the ladies' toilets and a health service on duty during opening hours, with defibrillators around the park. For getting around it rents electric scooters to visitors with reduced mobility, offers children wooden carts that roll on its sandy paths, and runs a free Ecotour train, adapted for reduced mobility, that stops at the exhibitions and experiences. It says it is working towards being fully accessible, not that it is: ask at the Infocenter about the route you plan. Food: three restaurants, a snack bar, and picnic areas for food brought from home.

No lifeguard: judge the sea yourself
Visit Fuerteventura lists La Lajita as unsupervised, 915 metres of black sand and shiny blue stones with few bathers and calm water; with nobody on watch, read the sea before you go in and keep children within reach.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about La Lajita
Which bus goes to La Lajita?
Line 1 (stops La Lajita Roton and La Lajita Puebl) and line 10 (stop Zoo), both between Puerto del Rosario and Morro Jable.
Can I get to Oasis Wildlife by bus?
Yes. TIADHE's line 1 and line 10 route maps list a stop called Zoo under La Lajita, in both directions, and the timetable on this page prints their departures from the ends of each line: TIADHE times no stop in between, so the bus reaches Zoo some while after the departure shown. Oasis's own page names public lines 01 and 10 (and two numbers, 09 and 25, that this site cannot match to a current TIADHE line) and runs its own buses from the main resorts without reservation; their times are on its site, not here. This site has not walked from the Zoo stop to the gate.
When is Oasis Wildlife open, and what does the ticket include?
Every day, for the hours on its schedule page; read that page and the Lives and Experiences times on the morning you go, because Oasis says they can change. The ticket includes the zoo, the botanical garden and the educational exhibitions; the interaction experiences (sea lions, giraffes, lemurs, elephants, the safari) are extra. Buy online at least the day before: an online ticket is not valid on the day it is bought, and it stays valid for a year.
Does Oasis Wildlife have baby-changing and accessible toilets?
Yes, by its services page: accessible, wheelchair-adapted toilets, and baby-changing in the ladies' toilets; it names no changing table anywhere else. A health service is on duty during opening hours. Adapted toilets do not make the whole park step-free: the paths are partly sand, which is why Oasis offers wooden carts for children and rents electric scooters, so ask about the route before you rely on a pushchair or a wheelchair.
